Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet CİLBİZ, a faculty member of the Department of Fishing and Fish Processing Technology at the Faculty of Fisheries of Isparta University of Applied Sciences (IUAS), has been awarded funding by TÜBİTAK for his project entitled “A Novel Approach to Improving Size Selectivity of a Bottom-Contact-Free Crayfish (Pontastacus leptodactylus) Trap”, prepared under the 3501 – Career Development Program.
The project includes Assoc. Prof. Dr. Habil Uğur KOCA from the Faculty of Fisheries at IUAS and Ali ÖZCÜ from the Eğirdir Fisheries Research Institute as researchers, while Prof. Dr. Celalettin AYDIN from the Faculty of Fisheries at Ege University serves as the project advisor. The project aims to reduce the bycatch rate in crayfish fisheries.
