Isparta University of Applied Sciences (IUAS) has strengthened its position among universities across Türkiye through its success within the scope of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) Research Support Programs Directorate (ARDEB). According to TÜBİTAK-ARDEB performance indicators, the University successfully achieved 21st place in the overall project-based ranking and 17th place in the number of projects per faculty member, demonstrating remarkable academic achievement.
ARDEB is the acronym for the Research Support Programs Directorate operating under TÜBİTAK. It is the principal unit responsible for supporting and funding scientific research and development (R&D) projects conducted by researchers from universities, public institutions, and the private sector. ARDEB programs serve strategic objectives such as enhancing Türkiye’s R&D capacity, generating knowledge and technology in line with global developments and national priorities, and transforming research outcomes into services and products that benefit society.
The project programs supported within this framework include:
- 1001 – Scientific and Technological Research Projects Funding Program
- 1002 – Rapid Support Program
- 1003 – Priority Areas R&D Projects Funding Program
- 1005 – National New Ideas and Products Research Support Program
- 1007 – Public Institutions Research and Development Projects Funding Program
- 3001 – Initial R&D Projects Funding Program
- 3501 – Career Development Program (CAREER)
In the evaluation conducted within the scope of TÜBİTAK ARDEB funding, the criteria included the number of applications submitted, the number of funded projects, funding success rate, number of projects per faculty member, and funding amount per faculty member for the period 2021–2025.
In the resulting “Top 100 Universities” ranking, IUAS ranked 21st across Türkiye, standing out with its research capacity and strong culture of producing high-quality projects. The University also rose to 17th place in the ranking of projects per faculty member, surpassing many long-established higher education institutions.
This achievement demonstrates not only IUAS’s high performance in education but also its strong research infrastructure, qualified academic staff, and effective project management approach. Having shown a consistent upward trend in research performance in recent years, IUAS continues to increase its scientific productivity and project capacity year after year.
Commenting on the achievement, IUAS Rector Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Çatal appreciated the academics, researchers, students, and administrative staff who contributed to this success and stated that: “TÜBİTAK ARDEB programs are not merely mechanisms that provide financial support. They are also strategic instruments that strengthen universities’ research ecosystems, enhance the visibility of institutional research capacity, encourage academics to develop high-quality projects, and directly contribute to increasing our country’s scientific competence. As a university, we will continue to build on this momentum by further strengthening our research and development activities and contributing to our country’s scientific and technological development goals in the coming years.”
